Sperm whale cross stitch

Sperm whales are the main highlight of the Azores, where I come from. Recently I bought a house there and I was thinking about some wall decoration for it. I wanted to make something that relate to the beautiful islands and a cross stitched sperm whale came up. This sperm whale cross stitch pattern was created from a drawing I saw and it is available at the end of this post.

I am really happy with the end result of this cross stitch. That means it would be hard for me to sell or give it away as a present. It is one of those works that you know it looks great and you LOVE it. I love it so much that I might keep it here in my living room as a decoration item until I decide or feel that I can let it go. Strange feelings towards a piece of cross stitch. Probably because it reminds me of where I come from.

Materials used:

  • 18 count Aida Zweigart fabric
  • DMC threads

I must say that the 18 count Aida it is very effortful to stitch. After one hour or two I find that my eyes get quite tired because of the very tiny wholes. 16 count it is definitely my limit for Aida Zweigart fabric.

I hope you like this cross stitch pattern as much as I do.

Happy stitching!
